Charlotte Month Update: Twenty-two Months

Date: December 8, 2012

Weight: The scale still reads right around 24 lbs for her when she plays on it. She doesn't go back to the doctor for her official weigh in until February when she turns 2.

Height: She is growing but I have no earthly idea how tall she is. I think she is pretty petite still.

Clothes: Charlotte is STILL rocking the size 3 diapers. I bought some size 4 pull ups for her but it just seemed ridiculous to put her in them. Size 24 month and 2T clothing is still way too big... esp the waist of anything that size. The stuff literally fall right off of her. However, she is finally growing out of her 12 month clothes. The onesies still fiit but the T-shirts are too short and so are the pants. She wears between a size 5 for her shoes. She is almost able to wear the size 6 Nikes Uncle ChaCha bought her when she was born. She has some really cute 18 month clothes that she is finally able to wear now... which makes me so happy :)  We will have to wait until Spring for her to wear all of her cute 18 month summer-y clothes.

Sleeping: Our little sleeping rockstar...FINALLY. She has been doing so good for the past month on her sleeping!!!! Apparently we should have never put her in a bed. We should have just made her bed a toddler bed from the start and maybe she would have started sleeping through the night long ago. She usually goes to bed between 8 and 9:30... depending on what time Alex gets home and how tired she is acting.  She sleeps w a lamp on and her fan to drown out the sound of us, the tv, and Sawyer when he cries. (Her room is right off of the living room). On the nights she gets too excited when Alex gets home, he does have to lay down in the extra bedroom with her to sleep...and sometimes they end up staying there all night. However, when she DOES sleep in her "big girl bed", she does stay all night. FINALLY. I can not say that enough :) I am so proud of her. And she takes a daily 2 hour nap... unless she is sick then she might take 2 naps... She is pretty predictable for her naps which is just lovely :)

Teeth:  You can see those "eye" teeth hanging out right under her gums. They aren't too swollen yet so I don't think we will be blessed with their presence just yet... Soon though.

Health: Our big girl has been pretty healthy! No stomach bugs or flu. She hasn't really been around other kids or people as much this month. She was around Ella who had a bit of a runny nose when we saw her but that never caused my kiddos to get sick. She does have a fairly good immune system... either that or the fact that we are loners and have no friends here :)

Food:  The "dodo" and "mnoke" queen. EVERY morning. Every morning she still requests these foods. So funny. She continues to be the girl that eats alllll day. She continues to have one big meal (sometimes she will have like 3 bowls of cereal for breakfast...always the healthy stuff like Fruit Loops and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.) She LOVES her some ham and cheese still....and believes that that is what Santa Clause eats... NOT cookies. She loves her fruit, corn, and mac n cheese. She loves chips, Chex Mix, and popsicles for "nacks". She is now trusted with suckers...if she sits at the kitchen table. She calls them "sucks" and stands at the pantry and begs for them each day. When we walk into Target, she screams "dodo" as we pass the snack bar. She cries if she doesn't get a cinnamon sugar pretzel. Totally a bad habit I started HOWEVER it makes for a MUCH MORE enjoyable trip to Target for me. Oh, and she likes, "meats"....which is usually pot roast... she prefers that over simple things like chicken strips and turkey dogs.

Talking: Charlotte just keeps talking :) She has always been a talker and there have been many days that I don't think she could talk more. However, she still finds a way to surprise me. She is starting to talk in short sentences. She says "no" constantly... like when someone new asks her if she wants to have a cupcake (one of her favorite things) since it is someone new, she says "no". She says "my" when referring to some of her items and she has even pulled out the "mine" a few times. We can't wait for her to start saying that constantly... kidding. She knows the difference between hot and cold... "hot and told". We were standing by the car one day and the outside of it was hot from the sun shining down. I also had a soda that was cold in my hand. She picked up the hot and cold right away. It was so cute :) She is just talking up a storm though.

Personality/Milestones: We are working on going potty on the big girl potty!! We are planning to start potty training after the new year... after all of our traveling and once we are all settled will see if she wants to start trying out big girl underwear. When reminded, she does go potty but she generally does not tell me before she needs to go. She goes potty on the big girl potty at least one time per day. She knows the difference between mom and dad's cats Sam and Belle. Sammy is bigger with white paws. Belle is smaller and has not white on her. She continues to play very well with other kids although she is starting to become more selfish with toys. Now that Sawyer likes to reach for things, he will sometimes grab for items of hers. She gets frustrated with him. She also is NOT a fan of sharing her dad or Gigi when they get to the house after being gone. If Alex takes Sawyer for awhile, she will say, "No Dada. No SawSaw. Momma." And points for Alex to give Sawyer to me.She is becoming much more independent. She likes to do everything on her own. I have started letting her sit at the kitchen table to color. She calls it "see". I don't really know who, what, when, where, why...but that's what she calls it right now. She has started jumping. She can't get both feet off of the ground at the same time. It's so cute. She can also count to one... and show us the number one with her fingers.

Favorites: We have been talking about Santa a lot lately. (Obviously). She refers to him as "Hoho". She loves to talk about him all of the time. She will talk about him but she does not want to go anywhere near him. She wants to watch him TV all of the time. Her favorite movie right now is "Santa Paws" and "Santa Clause 3." She wants to watch "Hoho" every day...multiple times per day. When we go to Target, we have to go back to the Hoho section and see the "yights" as well. She continues to loves "talking on the phone" with Jake, Papa, Dada, Aunt Meemee, and Gigi's. She loves our stray cat (that we think really has a home). She loves to play in her play room, redecorate her little Christmas tree, rock in her rocking chair, and you can find her pushing a baby around in a stroller about 75% of the time.

Our days are spent laughing, crying (the fits she throws are the BEST), eating, playing, and loving every minute of our time together... even when we butt heads...

And the exciting life of Charlotte Marie continues...
