Sawyer Month Update: Fifteen Months

Date: November 8, 2013

Weight: He is definitely growing :)

Height: Same as above.

Teeth: Sawyer W Jackson has 10 teeth now! He had 2 molars (one on each side on top) that broke through on November 4.

Clothes: He is wearing 12 month clothing and wearing size 4 and size 5 shoes. We got him some work boots on sale at Walmart. HE LOVES THEM! He looks so cute in them! And we got him some camo cowboy boots as well. He has officially outgrown his 9 month bottoms. They are way too short (he looks nerdy if he wears them.) He does still wear 9 month onesies. He wears mostly size 4 diapers and I even bought some cheap size 5 diapers to wear at night. They are big on him but it helps prevent as much peeing through...

Sleeping: His sleeping is about the same :) I don't even need to explain it.

Health: Sawyer has been pretty healthy. He did develop a runny nose and some sneezing the day after Mallory's wedding. It is still runny off and on now but he hasn't had a fever or anything. He has been pretty healthy this month!!

Talking: Our little jabber box! His favorite thing to say is "DAA". There is lots of "DAA" going on in our world. Whenever I ask him to say a word he will say "DAA" and use the correct amount of syllables for what I am saying. If I ask him to say "pancakes", he will say "DAA DAA". He says "thanks" when someone gives him something. He says "more" constantly. He has specific sounds for cats, dogs, monkeys, gorillas, lions, elephants, and cows. He says about twelve words but talks all of the time. Hopefully he will start talking more and more. He still does say all of his previous words. He will get there :)

Favorites: He has a true love for books right now. His favorite thing to do is curl up on someone's lap and read a book. He likes to turn the pages before you are done reading but he still loves it. His favorite books include animals, tractors, and trucks. He loves to climb. One day I walked around the corner to grab something and came back around the corner to find him on the counter. 14 months old and he is already on the kitchen counter. Crazy. He loves to mimic us when we cough or hiccup. His favorite person to mimic is Charlotte. He will even mimic when Charlotte yells at me. He will turn toward me with his little T-rex arms crossed and start yelling. He loves to show off and he has started playing along when we ask him to point to his body parts. He also loves to play dress up...although we are trying to make the dress up clothes more boy appropriate. He doesn't love TV yet. He doesn't watch it at all. I wish he did :) We are working on it.

Eating: He loves eating still. He continues to love bread, ham and cheese. He loves peas, suckers, and corn...not in that order. He loves juice and will pretty much drink anything you give him. He loves ice and ice cream as well :)

Personality: This sweet boy.... he IS pretty chill compared to Charlotte. He is getting to where he thinks he needs to throw some fits. He has started pushing things and people. He has also started throwing stuff and giving a really loud "HUMPF" when he does it. We went ahead and started doing the time out thing. He doesn't really get it and he doesn't sit still but we are still starting it. He just gets so worked up that we need to just pause the situation. He dislikes the carseat but he hates it less than Charlotte did. He is also starting to go to more people than just Mom, Dad, Mary, and John. He really loves Aunt Kathy too. He will also reach for Lisa, Grandma Ann, Lis, Katie, and Aunt Didi. He likes to whine whenever I am in the kitchen or whenever I am trying to accomplish a task. He stands there and whines until I pick him up. He can be so good and so whiney all at the same time.

Sawyer Month Update: Fourteen Months

Date: October 8, 2013

Weight: About the size of a 14 month old :)

Height: Taller than a cat and shorter than Charlotte

Teeth: I think he is averaging 2 teeth a month. Sawyer has 8 teeth now. He got his 8th tooth today actually! He has his four front teeth on top and his four front teeth on bottom. He usually is a bit crabby as they break through (but I have no idea that's why he is crabby at the time) and he usually gets a small diaper rash while they cut through. Charlotte always spiked a pretty good fever but he doesn't do that. The main thing I notice when he is teething is the fact that he chews on his fingers more and he tends to bite (OOPS) more.

Clothes: We are continuing to rock the 12 month clothes with some occasional 9 month clothes thrown in here. He is rocking his size 4 shoes... his crocs, his tennis shoes that Charlotte calls his running shoes, and his velcro nerdy shoes. He is wearing size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at night.

Sleeping: Our little prince wakes up around 6:30 am every morning. He takes 1-2 naps per day.... usually 2 but if it's a late nap then it's just 1 nap. He has a tendancy to fight the napping off and on.  He usually naps between 2 and 4 hours every day. The saying that "the more sleep a baby gets the more they need" does pertain to Sawyer. When he gets very little sleep, he is like the energizer bunny. He just goes and goes. By 7pm every night, he is ready to go to bed. He just isn't much for staying up late. Sometimes he is fussy and wants to go to bed but it will take 30 minutes to get him to sleep. He will then sleep anywhere from all night to he might wake up 3 times (with the average being one). He still loves to be rocked to sleep and we have been doing a few ounces of warm cow's milk in a sippy cup before bed.

Health: Big boy has been nice and healthy this month!! It was a far cry from the month of August :) We are happy to have our happy, healthy, sweet boy home.

Food: Bring it all on!!! He is still loving all food. He continues to start his day with his donuts and his cereal and whatever else anyone else eats on top of it. He eats all day long...still. He is really loving to eat cheese with lunch (usually with his lunch meat). Charlotte has passed on her love for "orange chips" (Baked Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles) to him. He could eat an entire bag. His favorite foods continue to be any and all meat, popsicles, ice, and suckers. Such a man :)  He still loves his juice but could care less if he gets water in his cup instead. He is pretty laid back. If you give it to him, he will eat it... except for bananas... not a banana man :)

Talking: Charlotte and Sawyer, sometimes these kids couldn't be more different :) Sawyer still isn't crazy about talking. He does say "Momma, Dadda, Gigi, Papa, Hi, Bye, More, Dog Dog, Woof". He is starting to jabber more and more. When he sees tractors he points and yells "DAA DAA" and when he sees a big truck he just yells "DUCK". (But he doesn't know what a duck is :)  ) So he is trying to talk talk more. We just need to keep working with him. He is also mimicking Charlotte all of the time. If she coughs, he coughs. If she yells and throws a tantrum, he will yell too. If she sings, he will sing.  Pretty soon he will be talking nonstop.

Favorites: Our newest most favoritest thing is books. He really loves books. He will find one and bring it to you and curl up on your lap. Now, he doesn't want you to read it to him and he most certainly doesn't want you turning the pages but he does love them! He loves being outside. He STILL LOVES the vacuum. I think it is really his best friend. He loves brooms.... he can spot them a mile away and he walks around with them.  He is so independent...he is even trying to dress himself occasionally. He loves to try to put his shoes on. He is obeying commands. If we tell him to go get his shoes, he will go get them. If we tell him to throw his diaper or something into the trash, he will go do it for us. One day he had been walking around with his shoes in his hands. When I went to put them on him, I couldn't find them. When I asked him where they were, he walked over to the trash can and pointed in it saying "da da da da". I look inside and there the lay :) He knew... If he brings me one shoe, I will tell him to go get the other one from the pile and he will go to a big pile of shoes and bring me the correct match. He loves tractors and animals. When he pets cats and dogs, he makes a high pitched humming sound. It is so cute :) It will melt your heart. He loves to push toys and loves to push Charlotte as she is riding around on push toys. When he gets mad he will try to cross his arms (in a very dramatic way) but he looks more like T-Rex when he does it. He has started pushing Charlotte around to get his way. She can no longer dominate him all of the time. He knows his eyes, nose, toes, ears, hair, teeth, mouth, face, and hands. And his favorite thing of all is......anything that Charlotte is playing with....

And the story of Sawyer continues on....

Sawyer Month Update: Thirteen Months

Date: September 8, 2013

Weight: More than at his one year check up:)

Height: About the same as his one year check up... I assume :) He hasn't started wearing 2T or anything.

Clothes: Sawyer is still rocking the mostly 12 month gear with a few wears in the 9 month category. He has worn a few 18 month hoodies/jammies/etc. but he swims in them. He is wearing size 3 or size 4 diapers. Whichever is closer. If he wears a size 3 diaper to bed, beware that there is a 99% chance you will be changing his clothes in the middle of the night. Poor guy is just such a pee-er. He is wearing size 4 shoes right now.

Teeth: Sawyer has six whole teeth right now.... four on top and two on bottom!!

Sleeping: The past month of this boy's life has been just ridiculous when it has come to sleeping. He has been sick off and on for a month so his sleeping has been a bit ridiculous. He will sometimes wake up once and he will sometimes wake up like 8 times. He has probably slept through the night twice in the last month. Sometimes he and I finish the night asleep in the rocking chair in his room and sometimes we sleep with Daddy in our bed and sometimes we sleep on the couch. It's been a bit rough. He has been taking his naps well for the most part. Since his night time sleeping is so bad I am trying REALLY hard to make sure he takes two naps per day. He has been sleeping on a pillow off and on to see if that will help him sleep longer at night. This too shall pass....

Health: Go figure this guy's birthday month was ruined by sickness. He was super sick with a cold over his birthday. Then he got an ear infection...our first ear infection in the family. He was put on one antibiotic on the Sunday that I took him to the After Hours clinic. He had his one year check up that next Tuesday and the doctor said his ear looked just terrible. So she said give him 24 hours and if he isn't acting better then she would switch his antibiotic. I called her the next day and got his new medicine ordered. He started feeling better within 24 hours. The day he finished his antibiotic he started acting like he felt terrible. He had a high temperature, was super tired, eating poorly, etc. We thought he was teething but no teeth ended up coming out... then he developed a rash.I called the doctor when we got back into town and they wanted to see him that  day (STAT.) I told her that I thought it was just a virus. Sure enough, we rush him to the doctor. It's virus. He started feeling better a few days later. I am pretty sure he is working on some teeth now :)

Food: What doesn't this boy love?  He eats donuts and cereal in the mornings as he walks around and plays. He eats snacks and food all day long. He loves his lunch meat and fruit for lunch. He continues to snack all day long. And for supper he eats whatever we put in front of him. He LOVES peas and green beans. He loves all pastas. He loves all meat. He loves all cookies and cereal. He is starting to like his cow's milk. He loves his juice. And he loves popsicles SO MUCH.

On the move: He is really keeping up with his sister. He isn't as fast as her but he is getting there! He is all over the place. He is up the stairs (when I forget to close the gate). He is in the road (if I turn my back for 2 seconds.) He is on top of the bus (especially if he is proving a point to his sister.). To say he is on the move seems almost like an understatement. And to think that at his age, Charlotte had only been walking for 2 weeks!!! This boy is a maniac!

Favorites:  Sawyer has many favorites. He loves animals. ALLLL animals. He wants to attack them :) He loves cups and any food that anyone else has. He loves his sister so much....and any toy that she is playing with. He is really starting to love his trucks...especially now that he got so many more toys from his birthday. Daddy is teaching him how to play with trucks and tractors and not make up and babies. :) He loves the outside. He loves when we get to his Gigi and Papa's house. He gets out and runs up to the house. He runs into their arms when he sees them. He loves babies and friends. He loves rocking in the middle of the night and he loves snuggling really close when he is having trouble sleeping.

This boy just steals our heart every single day....

And his story goes on....

Sawyer Month Update: Twelve Months! (One year old!!)

Date: August 8, 2013

Weight: 22 lbs 0 oz

Height: 30 inches

Clothes: Sawyer is rocking some 9 month clothes but mostly 12 month clothes. He is right on target for what Carter's and Target brand clothing feel he should be :) He wears size 4 shoes now. He is still wearing size 3 diapers and size 4 diapers at night.

Teeth: Sawyer has six teeth now! :) He has four on top and two on bottom. He has a big 'ole gap between the top front teeth which looks so sweet and slightly funny.

Sleeping: Well, let's see. Naps are a must for this guy. He loves his naps and he usually take a morning and an afternoon nap. He is a pretty good napper. He is great about sleeping in the car. He will sleep really well until the car slows down or until the car door opens. He will some days take 2 hours worth of naps and some day take 4 hours worth of naps. He likes to be rocked to sleep...and still takes a bottle before bed. He gets pretty gassy in the night (STILL) so I know we should skip the bottle before bed but the kid loves it. Right now, on August 8, he is sleeping horrible. Just horrible. He has a cold...fever...possibly teething...runny nose...etc. He is sleeping horrible at night. He is up and down and all over the place. Prior to being sick, he would sleep through the night 1 or 2 times per week. When he wakes up, he generally comes across the hall to our room and bunks with us the rest of the night. Some day he will sleep through the night....every night...

Health: Sawyer continues to be pretty healthy. He still refluxes but it isn't painful. He will occasionally spit up (or I guess throw up since it really is real food and drink.) He has a cold right now. It started with a runny nose in North Carolina/South Carolina. He was also sneezing quite a bit. I kind of thought it was allergies. He then started with a fever on that Thursday but it went away quickly (possible teething?) Well, his fever was gone all weekend then started up again on Tuesday. By his birthday (today) it is a fever fever. His eyes are watering. His nose is runny. He is sneezing and coughing. Poor poor baby. We shall see where this leads us. And I have called the doctor's office...no need to bring him in yet...

On the Move: As you can see with the picture below, this boy is on the move. No stopping him. Stairs? No big deal. Big block of cement? He's got it. Playground equipment? See you at the top. He is ON THE MOVE!! All. Of. The. Time.

Eating: Sawyer eats it all. He loves meat. It makes his day. He will eat steak, chicken, pork, lots of ham, he loves meat. He loves vegetables. He loves anything that anyone is eating. He loves his popsicles and suckers.  He loves chips and donuts (nothing but the best for my kiddos). He loves to have a fork or a spoon with him when he eats even though he doesn't really use them properly (not a big deal). He loves his apple juice and we are getting ready to switch him to cow's milk. He is still on the Soy formula with a bit of rice still added to to it. He takes between 2 and 3 bottles per day now. We are going to start mixing them half and half and see how his belly handles it.  Hopefully we won't lose too much sleep over the cow's milk. Fingers crossed...

Favorites: Sawyer loves getting on anything and everything. He falls down and stands right back up. If he cries, it is because it really hurt. He loves whatever his sister has and wants to play with it. (He only wants it because she has it though.) He LOVES his sister so much. He is starting to like his Daddy more and more. He loves his new trucks he got for his birthday party and he loves the electric four wheeler we have that he can ride. (He has loved it since he was 8 months old.) He loves the school bus that we have in our living room. He drives it all of the time. He loves to play outside...especially when water is involved. He constantly messes with the water hose and any sort of cord or hose. He still loves the vacuum and helps me vacuum everytime. He pretends to be on the phone and knows what noise animals say. He knows when we are at Gigi and Papa's house and runs right in looking for the cats. The list for him goes on and on....

I never knew a little man could steal my heart like this. Sawyer, you keep on keepin' on.

And his story goes on...

Sawyer Month Update: Eleven Months

Date: July 8, 2013

Weight: 20 lbs 0 oz

Height: 30 inches

Teeth: Our boy has four teeth right now! Such a big boy!! His top front teeth and his bottom front teeth. Let me remind you that Charlotte still didn't have ANY teeth at 11 months. We just feel so advanced here!

Clothes: Sawyer is rocking 9 and 12 month clothes. He wears size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at night (and still has a tendancy to pee through the size 4's). His feet are getting chubbier so we have pulled out the size 4 shoes for good now. I bought some off of an online garage sale group. I am so excited about them!

Sleeping:  Same stuff, different month. Sawyer sleeps from 7 pm-ish until about 3 or 4 in the morning. He then wakes up, drinks a bottle and heads back to sleep. He will then wake up around 7 am. He will sleep through the night 1-2 times per week for us (about 6 times this month). He is getting there!!!  He takes his 2 naps during the day... one around 9am and the other around 1pm. We have a random schedule and we don't stick to a strict naptime in our house so all of his naptimes and amounts are guesstimations :)

Health: Sawyer has been pretty healthy this month. With his teeth coming in and stuff, he has been fussy off and on with a low grade fever here and there. He was tugging at his ears A BUNCH and sticking his fingers into his ears so I took him to the doctor. No ear infection, just teething. He also got his blood drawn to check for food allergies (like his sister.) That was traumatic for all involved...including the lab tech. We did, however, get it done. And the result is NO FOOD ALLERGIES!! (A huge relief compared to his sister.) Oh, and he has bloody lips at least once per week. He bangs his face on things when he is excited. Sometimes he does it a bit too hard.

Food: This boy continues eat, eat, and eat. He still gets his bottles (one more month!) He gets his soy formula with rice cereal added. He takes 5-6 oz  about 4 times per day. But his bottle is not where his joy is. His joy is in regular food. All regular food. Just give him "More". He loves popsicles outside in the summer. He loves suckers (big sister gets them so why can't he?) He loves whatever we are eating. It doesn't matter. The only thing I have ever seen him give a weird face to was a banana. But he will still eat it off and on. He is going to be a "foodie" like his daddy.

Activity: He is just continues to be on the move!!! He is awesome at going up the stairs and he can easily go down the stairs on his belly now! (I prefer to carry him but he does pretty well going down. He just needs to be reminded as he goes down that he can't just turn around and walk back down face first.) He has figured out that he can fit under the baby safety gate at the top of the stairs and his wiggled his way downstairs before I ever even knew what was happening. This child has NO FEAR AT ALL.  He has been running a lot more. In fact, he runs everywhere. And when we are in the pool area at Mom and Dad's house, why swim? Let's just run on the cement near a big body of water!!!!

Talking: He is saying about all of the same stuff. "Momma", "Dadda", "More", with some occasional other words... like "dog dog" and "Sam". He has started growling anytime you ask him what an animal says. It's so funny. He does do a "woof woof" for the dog sound though.

Favorites:  Sawyer loves so many things. He loves all animals. He is getting so much better when it comes to petting the cats (and anytime he sees dogs.) He loves his Momma the most of all. BUT he loves he Daddy, Papa, Gigi, Aunt Bare, Uncle Poop and Aunt Jodi.  He also LOVES other kids....especially "babies". He loves cousins Wayne and Kyla and he loves when we play with Baby Emily. He about bulldozes Emily over. He loves to play with all phones....real, fake, big, small...he loves them all. He also loves the computer... and he feels he needs to help type on it....everytime he sees me on it. He is starting to run around with sunglasses on (which all of you KNOW warms my heart)...but he still hates hats and refuses to wear them on his head. He loves straws and has really started doing well with drinking from them.

Sawyer is a true joy. He is such a good baby (now that his reflux is under control. Those months were awful.) He is such a little fireball...and he learns so quickly when he is shown something. He is starting to pick up all of big sister's amazing habits. (Fits, yelling, etc) He has a farmer's tan and his hair has lightened up so much this Summer. He is just turning into the most handsome little toddler man.

And his story continues...

Sawyer Month Update: Ten Months

Date: June 8, 2013

Weight: About the same as last month... probably around 18-19 lbs

Height: About the same as last month as well.

Clothing: Our big boy wears size 9 month  and 12 month clothes. He still squeezes into some 6 month clothes. He wears size 3-4 shoes. And he still wears size 3 diapers with size 4 diapers at night.

Sleeping: Sawyer has been doing better off and on at his sleeping. He sleeps through the night 1-2 times per week. It's funny bc I get LESS sleep on the nights he sleeps through the night. I get up and check on him constantly. Sometimes we still use the Angel Monitor to make sure he is breathing. I freak out over everything. (I used the Angel Monitor every time he was in his bed in Georgia bc he was on a pillow due to his reflux.) He takes his 2, sometimes 3 naps a day and goes to bed by 8 pm and is up by 8. He wakes up and I usually still give him a bottle in the middle of the night just for my sanity.

Teeth: Sawyer has four teeth :) He got his top front two teeth on May 31. And he had gotten his bottom teeth earlier in May. What a big boy!! The teeth are going to change his looks so much!

Talking: He is starting to babble more. His older sister really has a lot to say so trying to get time for both of them to talk is a bit difficult :) He says, "Momma", "Dadda", "Papa", "Hi" and he waves. We think he is saying "dog" as well. He will talk eventually and on his own time...and when Charlotte decides to let him.

Health: Sawyer is a crazy healthy boy so far. His reflux isn't very apparent.... other than an occasional spit up...esp when he has drank too much juice or water too fast. He also had his first of MANY bloody lips. It was pretty traumatizing for all of us. Charlotte saw the blood and freaked. It hurt so Sawyer cried for a while. I had a bad pit in the bottom of my stomach. He actually got it from falling forward in the bath tub. He also chipped his bottom two teeth in the process. Other than that, no coughs, colds, ear infections, etc.

Eating: Oh, this eater. Charlotte was way more picky than Sawyer is. He will eat whatever we put in front of him. He loves toast, fruit, cauliflower, brocolli, and pretty much any vegetables he eats. He loves french fries and he loves ham. He loves to try whatever we are eating. He loves his juice. We have no problems with his eating. He would all day long if we would let him! He has also started eating his donuts in the morning just like Charlotte. We have to buy double the donuts for them.

Activity: He's a crawler. He's a climber. He's a walker. (Just not quite a talker yet.) He is getting everywhere that he feels he needs to go. The walking is going to be turning into running here. (It already has some.) He is really trying to keep up with Charlotte. He can scale the stairs faster than you can count to 13. He loves to ride Charlotte's 4 wheeler with her. He sits behind her and holds on for dear life!!!

Favorites: Sawyer loves to be outside. Just like Charlotte. His world is complete when he gets to go outside and play. He loves running around Gigi and Papa's big yard. He loves even just playing on our back deck (that I have a baby gate up to trap them on it.) He loves to dance. He dances and dances and dances. The minute he hears music, he dances. He loves animals. He yells with glee when he sees any cats or animals. He loves Sam and Belle at Gigi and Papa's house. They don't feel the same way about him but that's ok.  He loves the bath tub...and feels cool because he can stand up easily in it now. He really thinks he is a big shot. He continues to love the vacuum. It's his best friend most days. He stalks me while I am using it. And when it's not on but it's in sight, he gets mad at me when I am not using it.

Sawyer, you keep us on our toes and make each day a new adventure. We love you so much.

And the story goes on...

Sawyer Month Update: Eight Months

Date: April 8, 2013

Weight:  I have no idea but I can tell he is gaining some weight (which is good).

Height: About the same as last month!

Clothing: Our boy wears 6-9 month clothes. He is starting to get taller so he even has some 6 month clothes that are too short in the pants. He is wearing size 3 diapers. He is wearing size 3 shoes (his feet grow way faster than Charlotte's.)  I really wish I could get him to wear hats. He looks so cute in them!

Health: Our big boy has been a healthy little champ this month as well! The Soy formula is helping a bit. We haven't noticed a huge difference in the gas issue but I think we were hoping for an instant cure and clearly that hasn't happened. We have noticed a few patches of eczema forming on his skin. When eczema showed up on Charlotte, it was bad. It was all over his face, arms, and trunk. She. Was. Miserable. He has just had a few patches here and there on his legs and arms. Other than that, our big boy is very healthy. And he has been doing amazing without the Prevacid. No change there with him.

Activity: This boy is doing great things!! He has already learned to use his push toy/walker. He is almost running with it now. He is just so active. He is clearly crawling everywhere....even up the stairs. I am thinking, "You are SEVEN months old, how do you know how to crawl up the stairs????" I turned around and he was gone! Our crappy idea of a gate has been this zebra recliner of Charlotte's that Grandma Ann bought her. This will do for now. Eventually we are going to have to buy baby gates for the top and bottom of the stairs. Our stairway here is extra wide. It is wider than all standard baby gates by 2 inches. I LOVE how wide it is but it is SUPER annoying that we can't use the gates that we already have. Like I said, this boy is crawling like a mad man. He is cruising along furniture, pulling up in his crib, and getting where he wants to go. He can crawl up into the toy bus that we have...something Charlotte couldn't do on her own until around 11 months. (I think.) He is a maniac!! He also started waving "Bye Bye" and he has started clapping his hands :) So cute.

Eating: Well our little chunky monkey loves his food. He is pretty much refusing most baby food. He has decided that he is over eating mushy food. He wants the real stuff. We have been giving him soft stuff. Naturally he loves the cookies and cakes but he also loves peas and baked potatoes (something Grandma Ann started him on.) He eats very very well. He still does love the squeeze pouches with the baby food in them. He LOVES his juice. He chugs it (and then spits part of it back up eventually). He is doing very well with the sippy cup. The nice thing about him eating the regular food is that we don't have to add rice to it :) I am still making my own baby food for him but he is only eating a few bites of it and wanting whatever food we have. He eats 4-6 bottles per day with 5 oz of formula in them. We are adding a bit less rice to the bottles. He doesn't seem to be upset or in pain from it and he doesn't seem to spit up any more than what he already was/is.

Sleeping: Well, he is a good eater, is a pretty great baby...plays well, easily entertained, quiet as long as momma is around, BUT this boy is NOT a good sleeper. No, I am not the type of mom to let her baby cry it out. It's just not what I want to do as a parent. We tried it with Charlotte MULTIPLE times. Didn't work. I can't stand the thought of them screaming in their dark room...scared, alone, and just wanting someone to love them. But this boy does not sleep well. He wakes up between 6 and 7 every morning. He usually takes 2 naps, 3 if they weren't amazing naps, and then he goes to bed between 7 and 8. Most of his naps are pretty good....more than an hour. However, there are times it takes me 30 minutes to get him to sleep. He goes to sleep for the night and wakes up anywhere from 2 to 8 times in the night. I don't quite know why. I just know that Charlotte did the same thing and she outgrew it. Someday he will sleep through the night....and at that point, I will feel like a NEW woman! A bonus for Alex is that Sawyer doesn't prefer him (or want him in any way) in the middle of the night. So I get up all night with him. However, when morning comes, he can go on downstairs with Daddy so Momma can get a few more minutes of sleep!

Favorites: Sawyer's favorite thing in life is "Momma". He is attached. Big time. If I am out of sight, he freaks out. Screaming hysterically. Even when he is with Alex. Yes, he will outgrow this. It's just a phase. Every kid goes through. It's just funny when people tell me, "Wow, is that normal?" OR "You really need to get him into daycare or something. This isn't healthy." I just politely smile and say, "It's called separation anxiety. Every baby goes through. Some more severe than others." Deep down, inside, I just want to throw a nursing book or a middle finger at the people :) It's normal. He loves to be held. Still. All of the time. He crawls around the house all day saying, "Momma. Momma". He says "Hi" and waves while doing it. He has been saying "Dadda" occasionally as well. He loves his Daddy...as long as Momma is within his sight. He loves loves loves the outside. He is so much like Charlotte when it comes to that. However, he gets pretty mad if he has to be in stroller for too long. He gets every impatient with it. He still loves bath time and is still crazy about his sister. She is his best friend.

Sawyer is growing up so fast. It makes me so sad and so happy that he is already so active and all over the place. Everyday seems to go just a little bit faster...

Time. Slow down a bit!

Sawyer Month Update: Nine Months Old

Date: May 8, 2013

Weight: 19 lbs

Height: 29 inches

Teeth: He is so close to getting his first tooth. We can see his bottom teeth below the gum.

Clothing: Big boy wears nine month clothing with a few random six month clothes(mostly shirts) thrown in there and a few random twelve month items. He wears a size 3 or 4 diaper...which ever one is available.

Sleeping: It is no surprise that he doesn't sleep through the night. I mean, it really isn't. However, this too shall pass. He wakes up around 6:30, takes a nap around 9 am, up around 10:30 am, back down around 1 pm, back up around 2:30, then maybe back down from 4-5, then down for the night between 7 and 8. He then wakes up around 11 pm, 1 am, and 5 am.... with 1-2 bottles in there...depending on how patient I am and how awake he is.

Health: Our little boy hasn't had any health problems or sicknesses over the last month. Yay for a good immune system right now :)

Eating: We are still on the bottle train. Sawyer gets 3-4 bottles per day and 1-2 bottles at night. He takes in about 5 oz per feeding. We are still using the Soy formula with rice added to it. He is doing pretty well with it. He eats and eats and eats real food. He loves Cheerios, Kix, raw vegetables, and juice BUT he eats pretty much anything. He refuses to eat ANY baby food. He REFUSES to be spoon fed.  He is just an independent little dude that wants to do it his way...not the doctor's or mine.

Activities: Our boy is taking up to 10 steps by himself!!! He isn't walking CONSTANTLY but he does walk most of the time. He can stand on his own, unassisted for well over a minute at a time. Charlotte didn't take 10 steps on her own until she was 1 year and 2 weeks old. This boy just doesn't want to sit still!! He loves the stairs. He loves them so much. He can scale the stairs VERY quickly. He takes note of when you aren't looking and there is nothing in the way and away he goes! Gigi and Papa have a step up from their family room into their kitchen (and the rest of their house.) He has figured out how to go up and down that step. He lays on his tummy and pushed himself backwards until goes down off of it. SO CUTE. He is a maniac. He also LOVES to wrestle with big sister. LOVES it.

Talking: He is not much of a talker but with a sister who loves to talk all of the time, can you blame him???  He picks up the cell phone and says "HI". He says "Momma" and "Dadda".  He has a very LOUD voice with a bit of rasp to it. It is so cute. It reminds me of what my cousin Jake sounded like as a toddler :). We keep working with him and his talking but he just prefers to stick with what he knows... which is 3 words :-)

Sawyer is so awesome. He really is. He is busy and can be a bit hyper but also has this sweet cuddly side to him too.  He likes to take things apart and see how they work. He loves to try to play with the outlets in the walls. He loves his Momma. He does not like when I am out of sight... at all. He is very ticklish, esp on his rib cage and arm pits. He will just giggle and giggle. He gives kisses and he waves. He is awesome. He is really starting to learn from Charlotte...which is good, and bad :)

And a hugely positive note, he is starting to like his Daddy more and more :)

Sawyer, the journey of you shall continue...
