Even though this was my 7th Christmas here in Charleston, I had never been to the James Island County Park's Festival of Lights. Alex didn't know what to expect but he was so glad that we went once we got there.
Once we got on the park's property we got Charlotte out of her carseat and let her sit up front on daddy's lap. She was AMAZED at the lights! She loved them!
The cool thing about this festival of lights compared to the one we have in East Peoria, IL (the one that I grew up going to every Christmas) is that there is a Santa's Village area, places with rides/activities, marshmellow roasting, food options, and a place to see Santa.
There were different trails to take in the woods that connected the different areas. Charlotte was so excited to be that close to all of the lights.
Her sweet little face watch the carousel.
Daddy took her on her first carousel ride. She acted like she knew what was up.
When it started moving, she held on for dear life.
In this nice little action shot, you can see a bit of fear covering her face.
But she made it through without crying. There were so many kids everywhere that that was all she could focus on.
It was a successful night at the Festival of Lights. There were quite a few trashy people there that were a bit scary but other than that, it was fabulous. We road through the whole riding part, they rode the carousel, we ate a pimento cheeseburger with some french fries, and people watched like crazy. It was on the cold side of Charleston... I think it was in the low 50's or high 40's by the time we got in the car. Great time had by all. Alex was pretty impressed. Wait until he see FOLEPI's forrest in East Peoria. Now THAT is impressive :)
Oh how we love the holiday season!
