St. Louis Zoo and Family Weekend

On the weekend of August 24, 2013, we planned a family get together for Sawyer's Birthday so everyone wouldn't have to come all of the way up to Mtown to celebrate. The kids and I went down to Grandma's house on Thursday afternoon and we stayed with her until Friday evening. We went to Uncle Jim and Aunt Tammy's surprise anniversary party at Ryan's house. It was great to see so many people come out for the party. Dad and Mom showed up and were able to help with the kids. Sawyer started running a fever so we didn't stay too long at the anniversary party. We packed up and headed over to Mom and Dad's villa to get the kids into bed. Alex and John, Mary and Chad, and Melissa all come over that night as well.

We got up Saturday morning and got ready and headed to the St. Louis Zoo. Mary, Chad, Alex, me, Melissa and the two babies rode to the zoo in our car. Anne and Jeremy met us there (they surprised everyone but me bc I knew ahead of time.)

Charlotte was so pumped for the zoo! She even wore her amulet so she could talk to the animals like her favorite princess Sofia.

Sawyer was still running a bit of a fever off and on. We gave him some Tylenol and a cold drink.

We love the animals at the zoo!

The hippos were my favorite!!! Even more than big cats. They would just gracefully swim past us:) I pictured them all in tutus.

Charlotte was excited to see her Aunt Mee Mee.

Uncle Cha Cha and Aunt Bare wouldn't have missed this for the world. Sawyer was loving his Aunt Bare snuggles this day.

Party on :)

Poor sick little birthday boy...

Breaks your heart.

We love the elephants. They are always a crowd favorite. There were 2 baby elephants as well.

The Jackson family.

Beer while you look at animals? Why not...

The Perkins family.

The title of this exhibit was the Mississisppi River. This is what is in the water behind Mom and Dad's villa... interesting...

He looks miserable but he did like the animals.

A quick walking break.
The zoo was pretty busy. Lots of annoying people everywhere. (I get annoyed in crowds.)
Sometimes we just stopped and regrouped.

The many pictures I have had with this guy.

Charlotte was pretty freaked out by him.

This one is for you Tammy Jo D.

They were having a little chat with the birthday boy.

We were so happy that Liss was able to come with us.

One last exhibit and we headed home...

We were gone from the zoo by 1 pm. We headed back to the Villa. We stopped and got some Arby's and ate in the car. It was a great day! We love all of our time together :) On to the next part of the weekend...
