The Perfect Day...According to Alex

On Saturday April 13, 2013, after Alex got off of work, he came home and loaded up and headed down to Mom and Dad's new place in Golden Eagle, IL. It is affectionately known as "The Villa". We didn't end up getting to leave until about 7:30 pm. We got there around 11 pm... enough time to get settled, for Alex to have a beer, and to head to bed.

We woke up nice and early the next morning and got our day started! Alex cooked us breakfast and it was delicious. We had pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit... it was all amazing. (And he was ecstatic that he was able to cook on all of Mom's new things and that he was in charge of the boat.)

Dad was outside doing yardwork...naturally. He had forgotten to bring tennis shoes so he was rocking this sweet get up.

Charlotte was outside with Papa all morning.
The girl would live in a tree if we would let her.

After breakfast, we all hung out outside on the new patio chairs we all gave Mom and Dad for their anniversary present.

This little guy is crazy about his Daddy.

How sweet is this little back side????

Sawyer loves the deck. It is right off of the living room on the second level.  He loves loves it...esp putting his arm through the slats.

While Alex took a nap on the upstairs deck,

we went downstairs to play in the grass.

Sawyer used Gigi as his own personal jungle gym.

He was just as happy as can be hanging out climbing all over Gigi.

God Bless America.
I love this shot.

Alex took quite the nap... snoring with his head back.
Charlotte took a great nap.
So, the perfect time for a family picture... Don't mind the wind, Sawyer being blown away and my 17 hairs appearing nonexistent.

Happy Home Owners.

Our beautiful girl.

Alex got quite the sunburn from his nap...and this was only the beginning.

Throwing rocks into the Mississippi River.

"Frowing Hard"

Sawyer was playing with Uncle Poop inside watching the Cardinals play.

He fell down :(

After enjoying the beginning of the afternoon outside, we loaded up the car and headed over to Grandma Ann's house. A bunch of the aunts, uncles and cousins were having a cook out. As we loaded into the car and started driving, Alex was able to see the real beauty of this little corner of the Midwest. It is very hilly driving out of Golden Eagle. There are many small towns... like 150 people small.  He was in awe of the beauty of it.

As we were driving, he looked at me and said, "I love my life."
Made my heart melt.

So we drove the 45 minutes to Grandma Ann's house...and as usual for our lives, it was eventful. Charlotte just all of a sudden threw up all over herself in the backseat of the car. She got choked on something. We were 15 minutes from Grandma's house. So gross.

We finally made it to Grandma's house.
Uncle Stinky was behind the grilling.
The wind was CRAZY that day...but Alex was still able to run down and fish for awhile with Caleb.

Tired little guy still loved having Liss hold him.

Charlotte went ahead and took over pushing Kyla around the yard.

Sawyer even let Mallory hold him :) He is just a people person today!

I love this picture of Kyla. She appears to be a bit of a hot mess here!
I LOVE IT!

She was just dominating Grandma's yard.

The zebra twins are in love with the gator so naturally they had to go on a ride. I love having cousins that are so great with kids. Ryan and Melissa can always be found hanging out with the babies.

Drive driving.

Dinner was amazing. I mean, grilled food is just awesome. Everyone brought something to share. All of our favorite cookout foods were present. Yummmmm....

After dinner, Alex and Mom headed back to Metamora. He had to work Monday morning and Mom had plenty of stuff to do back in Metamora.

The kids and I stayed at Grandma's house for the night.
Kyla was hilarious. Uncle Grant would LOVE to hold her...or any of the kids for that matter...but she just was not about to let him touch her.

Aunt Tammy is always great about playing with the kids. This is one of the toys that Charlotte and Kyla both love to play with with her.

Naturally, while playing with this toy, Uncle Jim had to make sure and ruffle her feathers a bit.

Do you think my kids get any attention????
Didi is always teaching them some amazing tricks :)

We did have a perfect day.
As Alex said so perfectly, "I love my life."

Great day.
Great time together.
Great food.
Great family.
