A Fabulous Weekend In Atlanta With The Midgetts Part 2

We left the aquarium midafternoon and headed to our hotel, The Melia, to get checked in. It was right downtown so we got to stay right in the heart of it all! We got adjoining rooms so it's like we were all in the same room! The kids were MANIACS when we got the room doors opened up. They ran from room to room... eating, playing, going nuts.

Who knew this $9 stroller from Target could be so much fun???

This one cracks me up. Again, Charlotte gives Gavin THAT look. He was pretty upset about life right here. I can't remember why though.

Sawyer was so happy he got to stretch and kick.

The most perfect face.

HAHAHAHA. These kids were nuts... and chill little Parker was just along for the ride.

Such a big happy boy!!!

They made a toy out of EVERYTHING. Playing in our double stroll. AKA, the bus.

They both vetoed the idea of naps so we just moved onward and upward. The Ipad is a hit with both kids. Gavin knows how to work it. Charlotte just wants to tap stuff with her fingers. He got pretty flustered with her. Although, they still have never had a fight.

The two young ones...juuuuust hanging out.

After lots of playtime, mommies getting to hang out and talk, and Tyler watching a few games, we decided it was time to go eat dinner somewhere. We asked the front desk for suggestions and then we went walking with our parade of children. As we were leaving the hotel, a firetruck was outside. Gavin was so excited!! The fireman was so nice and let him sit in the truck. So sweet.

So we walked about 4 blocks to a restaurant but it looked waaaaay sketch. Niki and I were like, "Ummmm, no." We ended up just doing a loop and walking back to the hotel. We ordered pizza from a place I had had when I was in Atlanta with Kate. Tyler went to pick it up. Well, there was a huge miscommunication that ended with Tyler being escorted around dark downtown Atlanta by two homeless men that he was sure were going to mug him if he didn't pay them. FABULOUS.

While Tyler feared for his life, our children got baths :) So happy we had the rubber duck bath tub! Parker got a turn then naturally Gav got one. Charlotte just watched wishing she was lucky enough to get in the duck bath tub.

Tyler finally made it back. Safe and sound. And with pizza.

The kids, in their adorable little jammies, continued to play. They were OBSESSED with the hotel room phones. (I washed them to try to remove the nastiness before they played with them.) The next morning we found the phones in pieces all around the rooms.

Love this picture of Gavin dominated his piece of pizza.

This is the first time Charlotte has ever loved pizza.

Alex finally got to the hotel around 9 pm. He came in, got a drink, and some pizza and we hung out for awhile. Finally it was time for the kids to go to bed. They had reached their max. Charlotte was asleep after about 3 minutes off fussing. Gavin had his moments of fussing too before he finally gave in. They were to the point that they were too tired.

Alex, Sawyer and I sat on the balcony for quite awhile enjoying the view of downtown Atlanta (and I was secretly listening for gun shots.)

Perfect ending to a perfect day.

And the trip continues...

I forgot to add this... So, Charlotte and Gavin would communicate in their own way. He speaks really well in sentences and with clear words. Charlotte speaks in short sentences and her words aren't as clear. But she still does talk. As they were playing, Charlotte walked away from Gavin yelling "Baby NO! Baby NO!" She was shaking her finger towards him. He then said, "I can do what I want to." SO FUNNY! They were like a little married couple!!

A Fabulous Weekend In Atlanta With The Midgetts Part 1

This particular weekend is one that we had been looking forward to for two months :) Niki and I made plans for our two families to meet for a Saturday/Sunday event in Atlanta. We booked a hotel off of living social and away we went. It wasn't the fanciest place but it was pretty nice...esp for the money we spent.

On Saturday morning, the kids and I got up, got ready and headed to meet Niki, Tyler, and the boys at the Georgia Aquarium. It was a pretty good drive with both kids having been pretty quiet. Once we got there, got our tickets, and got in, we headed to eat lunch right away. The place was packed and driving two double strollers through people and tables proved to be quiet difficult. We all ate and were ready to get our day at the aquarium started :)

The youngest of the bunch was away for lunch and in great spirits.

Alex had to work all day Saturday so Tyler was flying solo in the grown men department. However, he was so helpful with Charlotte and took turns with her and Gavin and showing them the fish.  Charlotte loves Niki and  Tyler and always goes right to them. This day was no exception.

Checking out the "ish" in the "wah-wah"...and telling Mr. Tyler about them.

We played musical chairs. Gavin and Charlotte were all over the place in the strollers. We just switched it, changed it, and rearranged it as many times as it took to keep them happy.

Charlotte loved watching all of the fish.

A beautiful family.

My favorite part of the aquarium... the massive wall with all of the colorful fish. It. Is. Amazing.

Ty's favorite part of the aquarium... the moving walkway with the fish swimming above and around you.
I LOVE this picture of Gavin. He looks like a little man. Charlotte could care less.

I wish I had moved closer for this picture. We got in trouble for letting them sit down on it after this so I couldn't get another picture.

Amazing. Pictures like this remind me that God is all around.

Really big fish...and sharks.

Looking for the whale.

I LOVE this. Charlotte is giving her goofball boyfriend/best friend a very disapproving look. Reminds me of how I look at Alex sometimes.

She loves him so much.

OH! Boom!!! He was so concerned when she fell over from his happy hug.

Picture Perfect.

Love this picture of her. Looks like an angel.

And there she really is.

It was a PERFECT day at the aquarium. These two were so good...ACTIVE, but good! They listened. Parker was amazing and so was Sawyer. The joy of us is we just keep trading kids. I had so much help from my fabulous friends. It was a MUCH NEEDED day of fun with the Midgetts.

And the weekend in Atlanta continues...

A Boo Boo

So, even though we have only lived in Columbus for 4.5 months, Charlotte is still VERY AWARE of the doctor's office. She knows when we get into the hallway leading to the exam room that she is not going to fare well here. Just the axillary temperature is traumatizing for this chick. She also knows that when she is laid down on the exam table and I stand over her that she is about to get hurt.

When she had her 18 month check up, their computer system and shot records were down. She had transferred from Charleston between her 15 month and 18 month check up. Well, in Charleston she was in vaccine study so her shots were done a bit differently. When the nurse in Columbus gave her her 18 month shots, she didn't realize that she still needed 2 more from her 15 month session. So, we had to go back to the doctor a few days later for her to get those shots. It was TERRIBLE. Thankfully mom was with me and could help out. That was back in August.

Fast forward to October 17th. We went in for her to get her flu shot (I wanted her to get it prior to our big weekend in Atlanta with the Midgetts at the zoo and aquarium). She was fine in the waiting room but when they called us into the hallway, she took one look and said, "NO." Then she walked back into the waiting room. I had to pick her up and carry her. She was already getting upset. When it came time for the actual shot, she was so hysterical that she didn't even feel it. The nurse that did it was awesome. So quick. We were in the room for a total of 3 minutes or less. As soon as we let her up/stopped holding her down, she was fine. No more crying. She seriously did not feel a thing.

We went by daddy's work to tell him about the boo boo. She never forgets when she gets a boo boo. After that we headed home....where we talked about the boo boo some more.

Here I was asking her to show it to me but she was distracted by the straw from Sawyer's bottle.

Love that extra long buttcrack!!!!

Once we took the bandiad off and moved on in life, she never spoke of the boo boo again. Until next fall...

Butt's Mills Farm (That's Really The Name Of This Place)

The good thing about living somewhere new is that there are so many different places for adventures to take place. The bad thing about that is it is difficult to know if something is going to be a good adventure or a complete flop :)

Butt's Mills Farm was our adventure on this amazing Tuesday during Fall. I had originally found this awesome farm to go to an hour away that is owned by the owners of Chick Fil A. The place looked phenom. However, I called them right after we got our flu shots and were heading there and they said they are only open on Saturdays. BOOO!!! So, plan B was to go a bit closer to home to Butt's Mills Farm. On the website it looks a bit... homely.... backwoodsy. But we went anyway. Here are the pictures to prove it...

They had a fancy trampoline.(bought from Walmart I presume)

And a big firetruck too!!

Jungle Gym baby!!!

Charlotte loves balls. They make her day. However, when it came to an ACTUAL ball pit, she was a bit nervous. Had I thought more about it, she wouldn't have been allowed to get in it. I have heard of snakes being in them. This was an outside ball pit. I should have NEVER let her in it. Regardless, she was excited but not as nuts as I thought she would be.

I love this picture. He was in awe... and Charlotte looks creepy in the background.

Charlotte was not quite sure about this rolling slide thing. Alex was 100% sure.

How much do you love this picture????

He looks like he is actually trying to steer it.

So they had a "petting zoo" that consisted of 4 small mountain goat things, one billy goat, and one pony. The food dispenser wouldn't work. There was a dog that followed us around ALL DAY (she was so sweet) and when the billy goat got out of the fence, the dog barked and carried on until she got back in. SO FUNNY!

The petting zoo. Not kidding.

Here is our dog! She was with us 75% of the time. There was one other mom with two kids there this day. 25% of the time the pup was following them around.

They did have a cool covered bridge... you can get married there if you are interested :)

So, below the bridge is the flat rock creek. They have it damned off a bit. In the summer they have inner tubes for swimming. Check out the swings, the colored umbrellas in the background and there are a few slides that they literally bought at walmart and threw on the shore to slide into the water.

Luckily it was warm this day. The "wah-wah" queen was in her element.

A do believe a fit was thrown after this picture... I also believe Alex was forced to remove his shoes and join her.

Slide anyone???

Best day ever!!!!

Yep, his shoes were off. Check out our dog in the background.

They had this almost new in appearance blow up slide. Charlotte was unsure of this at first...

...but she ended up LOVING it.

Our sweet boy. Sawyer slept quite a bit of the day. He was spitty and refluxing off and on. But he woke up to play for awhile finally. How cute does he look rocking his bibbed overalls?

Love that profile.

We couldn't get a good picture of the two of them for the life of us. No kidding, every time Charlotte touched him, he started crying. He was a HOT mess.

Charlotte wanted to be like Papa. She was "drive-driving" the tractor.

It was a great family day at Butt's Mills Farm. There was a miniature pony pulling a wagon that the man never offered to take us on (he took the only other people visiting the farm that day). They had a miniature golf course and a go cart track that we didn't partake in. They had some nice playground equipment and swings but intermixed with that were playskool and little tikes jungle gyms and play houses from like 15 years ago. It was hilarious!!

This was a fabulous fall activity for us. We loved our day. Afterwards we went home, ate a snack and I ended up making homemade vegetable soup. Alex and Charlotte made a fire in our fire pit. It was a beautifully perfect fall day!
