So, as I am sure you all know by now, we are moving to Columbus, Georgia. As the story goes, Alex has needed a change at work for quite some time now. In fact, the whole family was kind of over his place of employment. He has a good friend in Columbus that has been talking to him about coming to work for him for the past year. So, I told Alex we might as well go check it out! The weekend of January 20th we drove the 6+ hours to Columbus (it took us 7.5 bc of the route GPS chose for us). Charlotte was awake and ticked off until Savannah but after that she fell asleep and slept most of the way after that.
We got there at 12:30 Friday night/Saturday morning and stayed until Monday mid-morning. Saturday Alex went to the dealership for the day to see how things went and to see if he liked it. I hung out with Angela, his friend/boss's wife. They lived in Charleston over a year ago so I knew her. She showed Charlotte and I around town. She was absolutely wonderful. We didn't get to see a ton of stuff because the weather was bad and there were tornado watches and warnings. Sunday we all hung out at their house on the lake and on Monday we stopped by the dealership then headed home.
We decided this would be a good move for us as a family. It will allow Alex to grow in the sales business and move up to different levels. It took him out of the toxic work place he was working and put him into an environment where he actually had a say in things. It also placed him with a boss he believes in and trusts. He handed in his resignation on the last day of January, and unlike most businesses, in the car business they generally just tell you to leave... they don't want your last 2 weeks out of you. That's what they did. So precious. The plus side to this was that we got to have our time together as a family for a week before he had to leave.
So, we are moving! We are going to have to sell our beautiful home that we love so much but we know that if we are going to move and set up shop somewhere else, right now is the time to do it. It will only get more difficult the more babies we have!
Alex moved out February 9th. He had to go to drill until Sunday then he went straight to Columbus. As he packed up the things he could fit in his Camry the night he left, it was hard to imagine that he might never come back to this house... so sad. It was a bittersweet goodbye for Charlotte and I because we did not know the next time that we would see him. So, now it's time to get this house in order and pray that someone wants to buy it :)
Here goes nothing...
