USMC Marine Corps Ball - Happy Birthday Marine Corps

We look forward to the Marine Corps Ball every single year. It is a blasty :) So we took Charlotte with us to Greenville and had Aunt Amelia come up and babysit her in the hotel room for the night. The ball was held in a ballroom at a hotel in downtown Greenville. It was perfect. Charlotte was able to stay upstairs an if a meltdown ensued, we were right there.

The ball is formal so it's a fun excuse for everyone to get all gussied up an feel pretty. It's always fun to go out and find a dress for the ball. Last year I was pregnant with Charlotte so this year dress shopping with different. The actual ball ceremony is always very touching. A tear comes to my eye everytime the American Flag is brought in. You can hear a pin drop when the color guard walks into the ballroom. It takes your breath away...

Charlotte helped pack my purse. The flasks were her idea.
He's a Sergeant.
The Mrs. Kate Hicks. Our second ball together :)
We love the shiney part to the uniform. This is Alex's bling!
1st Lieutenant Hicks. Strapping look.
Good look, right?
Charlotte came down to visit after dinner. She wore her dancing shoes...and her jammies. She was totally a hit! Since she had taken such a long nap at 5, she wasn't tired at her normal bedtime.
Lt and Mrs. Hicks... "Reunited and it feels so good!"
Kisses... Charlotte is longing to be on the dance floor.
The Jacksons.
My fist pumping fool!!!
Charlotte finally got to meet the Hoopers! She loved them and totally hammed it up for them.
SSgt and Mrs. Hooper :)
Keep it classy!
The Hicks... and their step child, Kevin
She was so sad when we told her she had to leave the ball and go to bed.
On our way back up to the room Charlotte met her first famous person. Rev Jesse Jackson rode up the elevator with us. Alex was excited for a pic with his cousin. Charlotte was still mad about not being able to stay at the ball.

It was a fabulous night. After we put Charlotte to be, we went out on the town with the Hicks (and Kevin). It was so much fun! Good times had by all!!! (And very little sleep.)
